Q.What can I expect to happen in the initial assess?

The Client Intake form gives us a general idea of your complain. Then your therapist will perform a general postural assessment to understand better how to better assist you during the therapy session.

Q.Can I pay for my treatments by Credit Card?

Yes, we accept cash or credit card. *Credit card processing fees may apply.

Q.What clothes shall I bring for my physio appointment?

Please bring shorts or comfortable wear as our treatment may no be limited to massage techniques only, and may include stretching and exercises as well.

Q.What do I have to do if I want to claim costs through my medical insurance?

Massage by Maya currently does not accept any medical insurance. Apologies for the inconvenience. A receipt of services provided can be issued upon request for you to submit and get reimbursed by your insurance company, especially for post-surgical conditions when referred by your doctor. Please keep in mind that we do not deal directly with insurance providers.

Q.What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is supposed to be DRY (no oil), light manual treatment working mostly with the superficial skin layers and it is not really a massage. As its name suggests it drains or pumps out lymph flow from one part of the body to another. The goal of the lymphatic drainage is to decongest and improve the lymph flow in the lymph vessels and nodes.

Q.Do I need a Doctor's Referral?

Yes and No.

It is advisable to be diagnosed by a medical professional if you have a medical condition but it is not required in order to get massage therapy treatment. For certain sports and repetitive movement injuries, diagnostic imaging conclusions and reports issued by a medical professionals may be helpful (MRI, X-Ray, etc)
